I bowl to help provide nutritious food for people with critical/chronic illnesses (like cancer, diabetes, HIV & kidney or heart disease)

On Saturday, September 8th, 2018, I’ll be bowling to Fight Hunger with Poverello. Poverello serves nearly 3,500 individuals who are sick and experiencing food insecurity each year with healthy groceries. Will you join me in the fight against food insecurity for people experiencing serious illness? This year, Ryan White Part A program has cut eligibility in half. That means now, more than ever, we need your support to meet the same needs we met this past year.  Because we have the thrift store to cover some of our overhead, every dollar raised buys food for someone experiencing one of these critical or chronic illnesses. In addition, the Poverello Center offers:

  • Cooking Classes
  • Full Service Gym
  • Onsite Nutritionist
  • Smoking Cessation Class
  • Massage
  • Haircuts for women and men
  • Chiropractic
  • Acupuncture
  • Mental Health Classes

I am asking caring people to sponsor my participation in the bowl a thon.  Your gift to this worthy cause is tax-deductible.  If you prefer to donate by check, please make checks payable to Poverello, and include my name in the memo line. For more information on Poverello and the lifesaving services provided, go to www.Poverello.org. To support me, please click on the "Give Now" button, above.  Thanks again! Your gift helps treat and prevent illness through good nutrition.

Together, we are making a difference!

Dear [FIRST_NAME],

Thank you for your [AMOUNT] gift supporting the 28th Annual Bowling to Fight Hunger. Your generous donation will help Poverello provide food to people experiencing critical/chronic illness during financial hardship.

Since 1987, The Poverello Center has provided services for people living with HIV by helping with food, clothing and other basic living essentials. In 2016, we adjusted our mission to include other critical/chronic illnesses in addition to HIV. Today, we’re serving more people with Cancer, Chronic Kidney Disease, Cardiac Artery Disease, Diabetes or pre-Diabetes. Our groceries for a healthy menu allow participants to receive groceries that can make more than 21 healthy, nutritionally balanced meals per week.

South Florida experiences a high cost of living. When serious illness strikes, frequently financial crisis ensues. Some people end up having to make difficult choices between eating healthy foods or paying mounting bills. Your gift helps us provide food assistance when its needed most, when someone is sick and in financial crisis.

To learn more about The Poverello Center and the services we offer and other opportunities to support us, please visit www.poverello.org.

Once again, thank you for your support.  Together, we can provide healthy foods that support treatment and recovery from critical/chronic illnesses in South Florida.

Sincerely,
